Weird Food Wednesday #1: Candlelight Dinner
In my previous post, I briefly mentioned a romantic candlelight dinner. Today, I’ll show you just how to cook with… candles. Why, you ask, would one want to cook food with candles? To which I reply: There may come a time in your life when the power goes out, and you have no other option but to use candles. Or, more likely, you’re bored and found a candle. So, without further ado, I present:
A Candlelight Dinner
Supplies:
Candles
Matches
Barbecue tongs
Foil
Wire clothes hanger
I set out with the intention of cooking 3 different foods. We shall start with the egg.
Failure #1: The Egg.
Ingredients
1 egg
Supplies:
Candle
Matches
Wire clothes hanger
Preparation: Bend the wire clothes hanger to look like this:

Place the egg on the coat hanger and hold about half an inch over candle flame.

Rotate egg frequently to ensure egg is cooked evenly.
After 20 minutes, remove egg and eat.
The result: It was gross. It took forever to cook, and after 20 minutes, the yolk was still raw. The white of the egg was mostly cooked, But it tasted suspiciously like a football. On to the next recipe!
Success #1: The cheese and cracker sandwich

Ingredients:
2 Ritz crackers
Thin slice of cheese
Supplies:
Foil
Barbecue tongs
Candle
Preparation: Take thin slice of cheese and place it in between crackers. Wrap in foil so that no food is showing. Hold over flame with tongs for about 2 minutes, rotating evenly. Unwrap and enjoy.
The result: The cheese melted nicely, as long as you made sure to roast the edges. Yum. Didn’t take very long either.
Success #2: The Chocolate Coconut Almond Bar
Ingredients:
12 Hershey’s Kisses (can be substituted with chocolate chips)
10 almonds
1/8 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
Supplies:
Rolling pin
Large knife
Foil
Barbecue tongs
Preparation:
Unwrap chocolate. Place on cutting board and chop into small pieces. Take a square of foil and place chocolate on it. Set aside. Take almonds and use rolling pin to smash them carefully into smithereens. Dump them on the chocolate. Add coconut flakes and mix together. Wrap the foil securely. Use tongs to holf over candle, rotating evenly, for 5 minutes. Once 5 minutes is up, place in freezer until hardened. Unwrap and enjoy.
The result: These were so good. I am a genius. A little crumbly, but the taste was fantastic.
That wraps up this week’s Weird Food Wednesday! I hope you enjoyed it, and be sure and stop by next Wednesday, like us on Facebook, and subscribe.
